First of all houses don’t have lords in astrology. Every house have its Karka, not lords. In astrology signs are assigned with lords like aries ruled by mars, libra ruled by venus, leo by sun, etc. Houses have their Karka’s.

What does Karka mean in Astrology?

Karka means natural significators of each houses. Just like every sign have a lord assigned, every house have their karka’s. For example Mars is the karka of 3rd house in Astrology this means Mars wherever it is placed it will give results to 3rd house from there. Don’t be confused, I will solve this for you.

Look at this chart Mars, the karka of 3rd house placed in a good sign (exalted in Scorpio). This shows that Mars, who is the karka of the 3rd house of siblings gives permission of having siblings in life because of its exaltation.

Let me make it easier for you. Suppose you are a planet mercury (exalted) in a house sitting alone but the key of entering inside the room is in your father’s hand (the karka planet). Now someone came to your house. You are a very good human being (exalted planet) with all the resources to help that person, but your father is not in a position to give the key to your friend to open the door (this is debilitated karka).

Now what this means, somebody with a very good 3rd house may not have siblings because the karka is not in a good position. So the key of opening the door for your sibling is locked now.

Who are the Karka’s of all Houses?

1st house: Sun is the Karka of 1st house. Why because the Sun is soul and without soul there can’t be the birth of any other planet’s significance.

2nd house: Jupiter is the karka of the 2nd house. Why because it’s the house of the family, your tongue, 2nd house is your first view of the world. And a child starts learning here so Jupiter’s blessings are necessary to begin the learnings of a Child. A badly placed Jupiter can lead to orphaned children, accidental tongue, and limits the resources of 2nd house.

3rd house: Mars is the significator of the 3rd house because the house belongs to siblings, neighbours, co-workers and people who took stands for you.

4th house: Moon & Mercury are the significators of 4th house because 4th house is connected to our mom and house.

5th house: Jupiter is the karka of 5th house as 5th house is related to Children and primary education.

6th house: This is the house of the enemy and Mars is the karka of this house as the house is significant like enemies, day routine needs that energy of mars.

7th house: Venus is the karka of this house no doubt, as 7th house is of relationship and Venus signifies relationship.

8th house: Saturn is the karka of the 8th house.

9th house: Sun is the karka of 9th house

10th house: Sun, Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn these are the four karkas of 10th house. Why 4 planets are required for the 10th house. 10th house is like a deep ocean in Astrology, it’s a reflection of our inner karma, environment and resources we get to fulfill our karma, 10th house tells a lot about the work we do in the whole life, the gains, ups down everything of our karmas.

11th house: Jupiter is the karka of 11th house as 11th house is associated with expansion of 10th house and gains.

12th house: Saturn again is the karka of the 12th house.

Author Conclusion: When making a prediction, first is houses, second are karkas, third is sign, fourth are planets, then nakshatras and padas included. Karkas are very important because they are like a gate of a house.
